Country Collaboration

2022 Main Country Collaboration FLRF

Much work has been done globally to establish policies and programs that protect, promote and support breastfeeding, yet challenges remain bridging the gap from evidence and policy to implementation.

Leaders need support leveraging evidence to translate policy into actionable plans so that ultimately, breastfeeding rates improve worldwide.

As our strategy evolves, the FLRF is developing an innovative operationalization approach to close this critical gap between policy and implementation with a focus on low resource settings. The approach utilizes a set of resources created to make implementation systematic and accessible to a range of experts and practitioners.

We understand that capacity to most effectively use the resources has to be available locally. Therefore we are also building sustainable capacity where it is needed, empowering experts and practitioners to operationalize their policies and achieve their breastfeeding goals.

Because breastfeeding is only one aspect of maternal and child health in the critical 1,000 day window from conception until the first two years of a child’s life, we take a panoramic view. We strive to integrate at the practical, operational level with other fields to holistically address healthcare and nutrition during this important period.

The foundation supports evidence-based interventions to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. As such, we fully support the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (“the Code”) and national legislation that aligns with the Code as integral components of breastfeeding protection.
